After a high-level dialogue between the Albanian Government and the
European Union for a further coordination in the reforms needed for the
candidate status, the Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Fule,
declared in Tirana that they have agreed for creating a plan that will deliver the five key priorities.

“Our goal is to structure a cooperation with the European Union so that Albania can be helped to keep the European integration in focus. All-inclusiveness and transparency will be a key element and we have agreed to include it in the high-rank dialogue. We have agreed to see what results will Albania give for the five priorities. We have also agreed to hold the next meeting in the next year, but before the next progress report is held, we will also have four other meetings”, Fule declared.

The Commission underlined that he has taken enough information as regards the government’s actions in the fight against crime and corruption, two very important matters.

“Albania and the government should continue their efforts so that the European Union countries can welcome and give a candidate status. I have to say that with this government and with these discussions, I am convinced that the European Council will have enough information to share with the European Union countries before the decision is taken”, Fule declared.

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama,  declared in the joing press release that the government is decided to continue with the reforms in the fight against corruption and organized crime.

“The priorities of the European Council are very clear to progress with the integration process”, Rama declared.
