The closure of 18 higher education institutions has brought to light
hundreds of thousands of diplomas that are considered illegal and
invalid for the Ministry of Education.
Violations have been verified in three higher education institutions “Gjon Buzuku”, “Medicom” and “Mother Geraldina”. This will burden hundreds of students that were graduated there.
The General Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Plarent Ndreca, declared that most of the registers are missing.
“Fake and inaccurate data were filed at the state institutions, without making the reports at the Ministry of Education. The institution declared in four months different data for the total number of students. They declared 136 students in January, while in April they declared 300. Students have graduated before the program was accredited by the Ministry”, Ndreca declared.
The General Secretary at the Ministry of Education declared that the license was removed to three institutions that had no students in the past years.
“From all higher education institutions that had their license revoked by the Council of Ministers, three had their licenses revoked because they weren’t working. These are the Construction Academy of Tirana, the Elite Higher Education Institution and the Justiniani I Pare”, Ndreca added.
The staff of these institutions did not have the legal qualifications and many abuses have been found, which will have their legal representatives be criminally prosecuted.
