Former US Congressman: “Reform won Albanian elections. The others didn’t want it”

As for the people who didn’t want the judiciary reform, DioGuardi has a concrete name.

“You know that for the leader of the past government they say he made billions with his daughter and his son. How did he make that money? From his government salary? This is not right”, the former congressman declared.

For Dioguardi, the judiciary reform is what the country and Albanians need.

“The USA has insisted for the judiciary reform for many years now. I have insisted as well. No one should be able to corrupt a prosecutor or judge who has ties with the government or to corrupt someone who is a government member. This has happened very often in the past and that’s why people don’t have enough trust on Albanian governments”, DioGuardi said.

The former Republican congressman said that politicians should declare their assets so that the people know where their money goes.

He also mentioned the opposition in Albania, specifically the Democratic Party, saying that the election results showed that the DP had lost people’s trust. As for the accusation that Rama used drug money to buy elections, DioGuardi said that it should be proven before being said, but, apparently, the Albanian voters didn’t believe it.

The former congressman hoped that the opposition will not disappear, since the country needs it.
