Former UN representatives in Bosnia-Herzegovina write EU to oppose border changes between Kosovo and Serbia

Former UN representatives in Bosnia,m such as Carl Bildt, Paddy Ashdown and Christian Schwarz-Schiling, sent an open letter to the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica MOgherini, about the possible border changes between Kosovo and Serbia.

They express their deep concern for the suggestions made by EU leaders, who said that they could support an agreement between Vucic and Thaci, which foresees territorial exchange.

“We know the region enough to declare that such border changes would not resolve the divisions, but it would deepen them”, they write, adding that such an acion would support those who want to disintegrate Bosnia Herzegovina  and who already make appeals to bring back the before-Dayton status-quo.

In this latter, the UN representatives underline that they know Europe enough to know from its bloody history that peace and stability can only come if people learn to co-exist in multi-ethnic communities, rather than putting divisions between them.
