Jamarbër Malltezi, son of former PM Sali Berisha, arrested two days ago after the investigations of the anti-corruption agency SPAK for the privatization of the former club “Partizanin” and the developer Fatmir Bektashi, appeared in court today for the evaluation of the security measure.

Top Channel’s Anila Hoxha reports that in the hall where the hearing is being held for Malltezi and developer Fatmir Bektashi, there are high security measures.

After the start of the session, the lawyer of Malltez and Bektashi asked for two hours to familiarize herself with the court documents.

The son-in-law of the former prime minister, Sali Berisha, was put in handcuffs, accused of 2 criminal offenses, while the builder Fatmir Bektashi was ordered to appear due to his age.

For Malltez, the accusations of “Passive corruption of high functionaries or local elected officials” and “Cleaning of the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity” in connection with the privatization of the former Partizani Sports Club are aggravated.

According to the voluminous file of the accusation, Malltezi, through the investment in the company “Homeplan shpk”, which carried out the constructions at the former sports complex “Partizani”, has benefited 5.4 million euros, which according to the Special Anticorruption Prosecution is illegal money since he was not an investor. He used the company of Fatmir Bektashi to launder this money.

Today, the court announced the “preventive sequestration” asset measure for 16 real estates owned by Jamarbër Malltez. He also has six bank accounts blocked as well as shares in several companies.
