One of the defense lawyers of former prime minister Sali Berisha, Sokol Mengjesi, told Top Channel today that he appealed the decision of judge Irena Gjoka against the former prime minister of the opposition DP, Sali Berisha.
The complaint submitted to the Appeal, requests the annulment of the decision since the measure obligation to appear on December 30, 2023, was upgraded to house arrest, with the same accusations of passive corruption of high officials.
Lawyer Mêngjesi told Top Channel that the defense argues on two main points, firstly, to overturn the anti-corruption judge’s decision as the conditions do not exist to aggravate this measure, and secondly, that judge Irena Gjoka is in a conflict of interest.
According to the defense, Judge Gjoka was removed from office in 1996 by the former president of that time, Sali Berisha.
