The SPAK special prosecution has issued a statement regarding the arrest this morning of the former Albanian Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj and his associates, who are accused of abuse and embezzlement of health funds.
In an official announcement, SPAK clarifies the roles and manner the abusë was carried out and how they benefited from the funds through fictitious invoices and “inflated” tenders.
The special court has issued the measures “Arrest in prison” for three people, “House arrest” for two people, “Compulsion to appear before the judicial police” for two other people under investigation.
The detainees are accused of committing criminal offenses: Passive corruption of high state officials, committed in cooperation, Active corruption of high public officials, Refusal to declare, non-declaration, concealment or false declaration of assets, private interests of elected persons and public servants or any other person who has the legal obligation to declare, Fraud committed in cooperation, with serious consequences and Violation of the equality of participants in public service tenders, the announcement states.
