Former Kukes Mayor, on the run, seeks medical help for heart problems

Ten days after the former Mayor of Kukes was on the run for power abuse,
he has sent himself over, but not to the police. Hasan Halili was
hospitalized for heart problems.

He will be kept under medical care until he will appear at court. The lawyers of the former Mayor are also expected to use the heart problems for changing his security measure, so that he doesn’t stay in prison until trial.

Halilaj and his former Finance Director and former Loan Director of the Kukes Municipality are charged with embezzlement and power abuse. 45 million ALL were taken from the municipality’s fund for the insurance of employees, and were used for sponsoring the Kukes football team.
