Former Greek Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras, declared for “Vardini”, a
Greek newspapers, that despite the fact that he blames Syriza of
weakening the country, he appeals for national unity as regards the
relations with neighbors. Besides Turkey, he also criticized Tirana.

“It is true that Erdogan is making threats, but I’m not concerned about him, because that’s what he does when he finds suitable terrain. But now the Albanian PM, Edi Rama, has started making challenges too”, Samaras said, underlining that he is concerned that Greece’s weaker role has made neighbors cause braver provocations, a source of concern.

“This would not happen if Greece had reinforced its international role”, Samaras said.

When asked by a journalist about the recent declarations in Tirana, Samaras underlined that this weakening of the international role of Greece makes Albania come up with “ridiculous threats and provocations”.

The former PM supports the Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Kotzias, and underlined that although he is his opponent, it’s not his fault about what is happening. It is the fault of the neighbors.
