Former Prime Minister of the DP, Sali Berisha said today in the assembly against the current chairman Lulzim Basha at the Air Albania stadium in Tirana, that he is regaining “control” of the party he founded in 1991.
Berisha climbed on the podium of the National Assembly convened by him, describing it as a magnificent monument for the re-establishment of the largest political force in the country.
He stated that “the re-establishment of the DP has become a de jure reality”.
The delegates approved the changes in the statute and voted with 4,446 votes for the dismissal of Lulzim Basha as chairman of the Democrats.
The Assembly dismissed by secret ballot the chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha on the proposal of 7 deputies and 15 percent of delegates.
He was fired for serious violations of the statute and damaging its political and electoral interests.
Today’s Assembly has also dismissed the entire leadership of the party and has stripped its Presidency of its functions with the argument that ” were not elected in accordance with the statute.”
The decision of the Assembly to dismiss Lulzim Basha will be passed voted on December 18, the day when Basha holds the National Assembly of the Party.
With the changes in the statute, the Assembly has also abrogated the Lulzim Basha decision to suspend Sali Berisha from the parliamentary group of PD.
Interesting is the fact that all decisions of the Assembly of December 11 will go to court, where the legal battle is expected to begin whether the court will accept it.
