The former Director of Border and Migration, Ylber Zyberi, was released
today after staying for more than one month in prison over corruption
charges.
The Court of Appeal has classified the prosecution’s registrations as invalid, and after this decision, the defense has asked the return of the personal security measure.
The prosecution presented once again a CD with video surveillance made in public spaces, but the court ruled for Zyberi’s release after administering the evidence and accepting the lawyer’s request.
In December, the Court left in prison the former Director of Border and Migration in Korce, who was arrested over power abuse and smuggling charges.
After being released from the Court of Appeal, Zyberi considered the accusations against him as false and denied having anything to do with smuggling. He accused the police of being implicated and underlined that he asked the Korce Police to help him, by even telling them where the smuggling was being done, but the police had neglected it despite of being aware of everything.
“This was a plotted process and the evidence was false. I have never lost my trust on justice, and never have I doubted any other conclusion”, Zyberi declared.
