Forest moratorium enters in effect

Today enters in effect the 10-year moratorium of forests, after it was
published on the government’s Official Bulletin. Trees will not be used
anymore for lumber, except for firewood supply.

The Minister of Environment, Lefter Koka, said that this is a historic decision that will change the future of our forests. He asked citizens to be involved in implementing the moratorium.

Starting from today, the government has banned exploitation of trees through the entire countries, and export of unprocessed wood or lumber.

Fines mount up to 5 million ALL.
