The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, greeted the European
Council reconfirmation for the integration of Western Balkan countries.
“The European Council reconfirmed the European perspective of our region, and reiterated how significant it is to progress with the reforms. We welcome this focus on Western Balkan, a vital region for the EU and for its collective security. The focus coming from member states proves that our region is an added value to the European family”, Bushati said.
According to Bushat, the reforms must continue, together with good neighboring relations and inclusive initiatives.
“The EU is stating very clearly, every single day, that Albania’s next step for the integration – the accession negotiations – depend on the application of the judiciary reform, especially of the Vetting law. This is the time to stop war games from tents and establish a reform that is essential for democracy and the rule of law”, Bushati writes.
The Foreign Minister concluded his status with the request to establish the Vetting institutions as soon as possible, which would give a positive signal to international partners.
