The Foreign Minister of Albania, Ditmir Bushati, was part of the annual
summit of Western Balkan, organized by Friends of Europe, focused on the
topic ” BALKANS – Boosting connections on the road to the EU”.
Present in this summit were the Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighboring Policy, Johannes Hahn; former Commissioner, Stefan Fule; Director for the Balkans in the EU Foreign Service, Angelina Eichhorst, MEP Tanja Fajon, and many other personalities and researchers of European affairs.
European Integration, promoting business and investments in the region, migration, employment, youth cooperation, risk of radicalization and regional interconnection were among the topics that were discussed at the summit.
Minister Bushati mentioned the positive contribution of EU membership with the democratization and state building consolidation of Balkan countries, and underlined that “Western Balkan countries are important partners with a special role in the continent’s security, and that’s why this positive approach should be reflected with the EU enlargement policy, which will bring benefits to both parties.
As for the adoption of the Vetting law and implementation of the Justice Reform, Minister Bushati said that the European Commission underlines the implementation of the Vetting Law as the foundation of the justice reform that will impact the fulfilling of other key priorities.
