“Force of Law”, is a police operation held in cooperation between the Albanian government, FBI, German, Italian and UK law enforcing agencies, focusing on the fight against crime.

There will be a central task force which will instruct regional forces against crime.

The work started with a study of criminal group types.

“Studies showed that 53% of them focus on narcotic cultivation, 11% with illegal traffics, 18% with serious crimes, such as murders and kidnapping, 18% with economic crime”, said Idajet Faskaj, Chairman of the Department Against Organized Crime at the State Police.

The main priority is to attack financial sources, which gives the Ministry of Finances a special role.

Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj said that the organized crime will soon have no future in Albania.

“We are determined to do everything possible to destroy these criminal networks, their infrastructure and their economic strength”, Minister Xhafaj declared.

He also answered to political accusations, saying that they are ready to work with anyone for realizing this challenge.

Five foreign experts will assist the operation, coming from USA, Germany, Italy and UK.
