The Albanian Police has identified 40 gangs in Albania, as part of the “Force of Law” operation.

The central and regional Task Forces established under the “Force of Law” operation have drafted a map of the activity of the main organized gangs in Albania.

Experts have identified 40 criminal groups which operate in 12 districts.

Durres is considered the hottest area, due to its geographic position and the influence brought by the biggest port in the country. Durres and Shijak have at least seven criminal gangs.

Vlora comes second, with at least five criminal gangs which may have expanded their activity abroad.

Elbasan has at least three criminal groups.

Shkoder and Fier have also three gangs each, but Police say they have destroyed one group in each of these two cities.

The capital seems calmer, with two criminal groups.

Korca, Kukes, Berat, Lezha, Gjirokastra and Dibra will be the least affected by the Force of Law.

Police say 53% of these criminal gangs cultivate and traffic narcotics; 11% with illegal traffics; 18% with murders and kidnapping; 18% involved with economic crime.
