The fewer precipitations have improved the situation in the flooded
areas in northern Albania. The situation remains bad in the south, in
Vlore and Fier.
The Interior Ministry reported that the water level has reduced in Shkoder, however 60 houses are isolated and 2000 hectares are flooded.
The situation is still problematic in Bacallek, Ajasem, Ana e Malit, Berdica, Dajc and Gur i Zi, with 120 evacuated families. The Ministry says that the road is free in this area.
One of the problematic areas in Dajc is the Shirq village. This area seems more like a lake today, and boats are the only means of transport.
The residents feel threatened by the water, while most of them try to guard their residences from robbers. They also report damages in crops.
“No one has seen us in 24 hours. We made a request in the commune in the last four months. We have written several times to the Head of Commune. We don’t know what the government will do now”, declared one Shiqr resident.
Residents say that no one notified them that the hydropower plant gates would open.
Another concern for them is the main road that connects them with Shkoder, which is blocked by the waters of Buna.
