The rapporteur for Albania at the European Parliament, Knut Fleckenstein, declared in a meeting with the Minister for Interior, Fatmir Xhafaj, that there are no reasons for Albania to face additional conditions before the Commission opens the accession negotiations.
Minister Xhafaj received the Rapporteur for Albania at the European Parliament, Knut Fleckenstein, accompanied by the EU ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin.
According to the Ministry of Interior, Xhafaj informed Fleckenstein about the priorities of the institution that he leads and about the results achieved so far.
Mr.Fleckenstein underlined that this is a quick visit, but he is happy to see positive results achieved in such a short time.
He said that the reforms and a positive implementation trend are also confirmed by representatives of EU countries in Brussels and Tirana.
Fleckenstein added that he was happy about the declaration of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Federica Mogherini, who asked the Commission to open clear and unconditioned negotiations with Albania for EU accession.
