Fleckenstein: “Obstacles to justce reform put EU negotiations at risk”

The rapporteur of Albania for the European Parliament, Knut
Fleckenstein, believes that the challenging of laws at the
Constitutional Court makes it difficult for the European Commission to
take a positive decision by the end of October, and recommend the start
of Albania’s EU accession negotiations.

Knut Fleckenstein gave this declaration during a hearing session of the Commission of Integration, with the former German Chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder

The session was held behind closed doors, but Top Channel learned that Knut Fleckenstein has given this answer to defend the thesis that Albania needs to provide strong evidence for the implementation of the justice reform, by not putting obstacles to it through attacks against the justice reform at the Constitutional Court.

Fleckenstein did not mention it, but the reference seems to be clear about the decision of the Democratic Party, who filed a complaint against the Vetting Law at the Constitutional Court.

The US Ambassador made the same request this Friday, although it was for other reasons. However, the opposition seems determined to send the Vetting Law at the Constitutional Court.

The opposition has also boycotted the Justice Reform Commission which has decided to postpone the passing of the six-law package.

According to the decision taken at the meeting of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, the six laws were postponed to October sixth, but no one can confirm if there are new efforts to reach any agreement with the opposition.
