Knut Fleckenstein, the rapporteur for the European Parliament, arrived
today in Tirana for the three-day visit of the spring report for our
country.
Fleeckenstein is expected to meet with the Albanian President, Bujar Nishani; the Albanian Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta; Ministers Peleshi, Bushati, Tahiri and Harito; the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, the Ombudsman and other local institution leaders related to the fight against corruption, the public administration, minorities and exponents of the civil society and media.
He will get updated with the concerns of many EU member countries about the meeting with the ambassadors in Tirana. A special meeting is scheduled with the OSCE representative.
After the intervention in December for returning the opposition in Parliament, Fleckenstein is expected to meet MPs Taulant Balla and Majlinda Bregu, to discuss about the implementation of the agreement between the opposition and the government. On Friday there will be a press release.
Besides the meetings organized under the care of the European Union delegation in London, Fleckenstein has also requested to meet with the relatives of the late Aleks Nika, killed on January 21st, 2011, based on the letter that his wife has addressed to him, which was published by Top Channel.
