The Minister of local Matters, Bledi Cuci, presented the variants of the
new administrative division. Cuci presented the criteria on which this
reform will be made, underlining that the main objective is creating
functional local units that will have social, economic, historic and
cultural ties with each other.
The offering of full and functional services, and the distance between the territory, were one of the criteria presented by the Minister. Only the communes with ethnic backgrounds will be excluded.
He presented five varitants that have been proposed, one with 30 local units, and then with 39, 47, 57 and 63.
“These are the five variants that we are proposing. We are open to discuss all variants with the commission, so that they can have the right space for considering the best”, Cuci declared.
The Socialist Party Parliament Member and chairman of the commission for the territorial reform, Bashkim Fino, invited the opposition to be part of this important process.
“We have been very transparent in every moment of the process. The fact that today were presented five variants, means that it hasn’t been decided on a political base. Again, we are giving a chance to everyone, even the opposition, to become part of the process. If the opposition has other thoughts, they are welcomed to present them”, Fino declared.
Rama posted a message on Twitter, saying that this is a step towards a radical reformation of our country.
