Tirana neurosurgery has successfully concluded the first neuronavigation surgery.

One patient from Kosovo had a 1 cubic centimeter tumor in her brain, for which she had been visited in several clinics in the region, but the intervention was classified as extremely dangerous.

“The brain neuronavigator enables us to build a good plan before the surgery, through scans and MRIs. For small and vascular lesions in deep column areas we can specify beforehand the way that will be followed, and this is enabled by the neuronavigator”, declared Mentor Petrela, head of the neurosurgery.

The intervention was successful thanks to the MRI and new equipments that have arrived to this pavilion. According to Petrela, the neuronavigator will allow column intervention through probes.

The director of Tirana University Hospital Center, Zaimir Ivziku guaranteed that with the consistent investments that are being made, the Tirana UHC will soon fulfill the standards of a modern center.
