First efforts to apply law against parents of children used for begging

When a child is seen begging on the street, it is not just a social
problem. Eight people are under investigation for mistreating minors,
while three others are found guilty.
Fatmir Jonuzi is accused of using his daughters to beg on the street. While every defendant asked mercy for the difficult economic conditions, two are already sentenced to 16 years in prison for this act.
The Criminal Court said that the difficult conditions have pushed them to use their children for begging.
Linda Dalipi was sentenced to six months in prison, but to keep helping her children she was left with an 18 months probation sentence.
The Court says that the defendant is a single mother of four children, unemployed.
“I was with my mother and three sisters and a driver gave us 10 ALL. A woman driver gave 50 ALL to my sister. We didn’t ask them for money. My mother begs from time to time. We also beg once in a while and give the money to our mother for food”, the 4-year old has told to court.
Although the court and the police are trying to apply the law for the first time, the situation remains equal.
This means that the first investment must come from the Social Service.
