Fires, citizens in Dajti Mountain to ‘shake’ the Government

A group of citizens have taken voluntary action for extinguishing the fires, making an appeal to all citizens to join in this call.

At least 50 people are heading toward Dajti Mountain to assist police and military forces in putting a forest fire in control, the source of which is active for four days now.

One of the environmental activists, Sazan Guri scourges all the citizens and state officials for showing apathy at this time when the country is surrounded by fires.

“For those people  who  are irresponsible and cut the forests and trees, for those municipality leaders that share the forest like Mark Shalgjati, for the Environment Minister, who has not yet woken up from his sleep, but also for the government that has the situation under control, for those officials with ties who speak from the office, “said Guri.

Guri says that we should set up an environmental court to give tough decisions to arson, while the law requires a tougher law for the arsonists.

“It is necessary to create a genuine environmental Court, because such crimes are called administrative infringement, sometimes criminal offense and there are no clean criminal environmental crimes in Albania. We have much more environmental crimes than Germany”, said Guri.
