The government plans to reduce the public debt with 2.1% during the next year, taking it down to 68.6%.

“Our objective is to reduce the debt level with 2% within a year. We also will plan public investment above 5% of the GDP”, Ahmetaj declared.

But the opposition says that in 2013 they left the debt at 63% of the GDP.

“How can you be proud that you are taking the debt from 63% to 73%? Only you and your propaganda can do this”, said Jorida Tabaku, Democratic Party MP.

The Minister of Finances said that the reason that the debt was increased, were the 725 million USD that the Democratic Party government had left without paying.

“This government not only has not created a new debt for the past three years, but it has also saved to pay older debts”, Ahmetaj declared.
