Filling the AMA vacancies

The agenda was approved in the Commission, but before the Media Commission could reach this decision, Chairman Genc Pollo discussed for several hours and violated the regulation by not starting the voting procedure for the majority’s propositions.

Pollo did not answer to any of the appeals for respecting the regulation, and frequently gave the right to speech to some MPs who are known as his supporters.

The interventions of MP Luciano Boci were very frequent. He has spoken without waiting for his turn for more than ten times.

Pollo decided that the Commission should suspend the work for one hour, which was opposed by the majority.

Based on the regulation, the majority’s 13 Parliament Members, as the regulation requires, continued the meeting and decided to start discussing the replacement of the four AMA members on Monday.

Bregu: Bushati’s accusations, personal

This Friday, the AMA Public Relation Director read a declaration full of accusations against national televisions.

Did the AMA Director, Endira Bushati, consult with the Council members before drafting this declaration? The answer is given by the AMA council member, Zylyftar Bregu: “There has been no consultation with the AMA members about the content of that declaration”.

This answer of Mr.Bregu shows that the declaration is a personal product of the incumbent Director, Endira Bushati, who launched those accusations on behalf of AMA, without consulting the Council. Bushati’s declaration attacks even the digital platforms, trying to decide how much they should charge for their product, and where should the Albanian consumers be addressed to.

Bregu: This approach was a bit emotional. The drafters of this declaration could have spared the part about the cheap or expensive prices. For what I know, there is no comparative study about the price of digital packages.

Top Channel: Is AMA allowed to give emotional declarations?

Bregu: It appears like an emotional approach. That part of the declaration could have been spared.

The Public Relation Director claimed that the three National TV outlets do not cover the entire Albanian territory. Bushati has reiterated this claim in the past weeks, saying that it is based on measurements made by AMA on December 2013.

“The measurements were made with instructions from the current majority for the digitalization process”, Bregu declared.

In fact, during the past five years, AMA has not made any measurements. The December measurements are made for identifying the frequencies related to the digitalization project, and it didn’t aim the quality of National TV operators. As result, they are incorrect.

Besides Mr.Bregu, Top Channel contacted with the AMA Vice Director, Sami Neza, who could not give an interview. Another AMA member, Suela Musta, refused to give an interview for Top Channel.
