A 20-year-old Albanian boy, Erblin Micaj, is being cured in the “Papanikolaou” hospital in Greece for acute leukemia.

According to the director of this clinic, the patient is being treated with chemotherapy, which could have fatal complications. But under the care of the doctors everything has gone successfully, and they are waiting to continue the therapy or even a marrow transplant.

“He will undergo other therapies and if everything goes well, the first phase will end after 6 months and will be followed by a maintenance therapy that will last two years. If things go well, he will undergo bone marrow transplant operation, taken from his sister or any other donators. He is a special boy, lovely with all of us and wee love him as he was an old acquaintance for us. But there’s another problem that is not medical, but that comes from Albania. He is not insured and has to pay the cost of the cure. These are very expensive and he will need a large amount of money”, declared Achilles Anangnostopoulos, director of this clinic.

His relatives and other representatives of the Albanian emigrants of Thessalonica and other cities have helped immediately. The 20 year old flom Vlore is unable to continue the therapy and the transplant that will cost thousands of euros.
