The clash between the High Council of Justice and the Ministry of Justice has escalated in another phase.
This Friday, the HCJ held a meeting behind closed doors and without the presence of the Minister of Justice, Nasip Naco, who is part of this Council as member of the executive power.
The HCJ condemned the absence of the Minister of Justice, considering it as a non-serious act that shows the irresponsibility of his previous declarations.
The High Council of Justice considers that the absence of the Minister of Justice was intentional and the reasons of this absence are not serious. With his absence, the Minister of Justice made it impossible to continue with the disciplinary procedure for the judges, since the law requires his presence.
For the HCJ, the declarations of the Minister of Justice against this institution only aim to throw mud against their work.
“With today’s absence, the Minister of Justice showed that his irresponsible declarations launched on May 27th 2014 at the Commission of Laws, saying that the HCJ has not been reviewing the disciplinary proceedings for 700 days, or that the HCJ is appointing the Presidents of Court, had only one purpose, and that is throwing mud against this institution. If the Prime Minister would have been concerned about the functionality of the judiciary, he should have not exploited his exclusivity at the disciplinary procedure against judges with double standards and for attacking the HCJ. This competence should have been used by the Minister with transparency, objectiveness and far from reasonable doubts for any kind of affair”, the declaration concludes.
