Fier, calm municipalities, problems in communes

08/05/2011 17:55

The latest incident in the Fier district took place at the Sulaj village,
where the voting process was interrupted for almost one hour.

The Democratic Party supporters have used violence against some socialist commissioners.

The opposition commissioners have reported the incident at the police, which has immediately started criminal investigations, enabling the election process to resume and to continue even after 19:00.

What attracts the attention is the low participation of the citizens in this process. In a district level, only 30% of the Fier citizens have voted until 16:00, while the greatest participation in communes is that of the Sulaj village, with more than 70%.

The incident in this village has happened also due to some accusations of the Socialist Party commissioners against the voting process and their suspicions for manipulations.

Meanwhile, in the Ruzhdie commune, famous for the event that took place in 28 June 2009 about manipulation controversy, the process is going very smoothly.

The process was different in the other communes, where left centered members complained of being threatened by the supporters.

The voting process in the other municipalities of this district goes smoother.
