Fewer tourists in Durres

The geographical position, nature, the historic values and human
resources have turned Durres into one of the best places for the
holidays, but these beaches have had less visitors than one year ago
this time.
The electoral campaign, the cold weather and the month of Ramadan for Kosovo Albanians are considered some of the factors that have caused this.
However, the new investments are made by tourist operators to improve the accommodating infrastructure and the services offered to foreign and domestic visitors, aiming to keep reasonable prices.
The cooperation with the local and central structures to enable a good promotion of the resources and for a better organization of the tourist sector, remains a concern for the tourist operators in this part of the Adriatic.
These structures don’t have even real statistics on the accommodating capacities that the Durres beach offers. The entire district is known for the concrete development opportunities in archeology, culture, culinary, marine and mountainous aspects.
Currently there, there are 100 accommodating units in the entire district with at least 5000 beds, but the real number is several times larger, without even counting the so called family tourism. This situation not only creates an injust competition between the tourist operators, but also brings less revenues from this sector, by influencing directly the level of investments.
