The Brindisi-Vlore ferry crashed against a fishing boat near the Sazan Island, causing the boat to sink within a few minutes.
The three crew members were saved after lowering their inflatable boats on time.
A coast-guard vessel arrived right after to help them. The fishermen told how the incident took place.
“The ferry was coming from the west and hit us. The ferry left for 4-5 miles after leaving us and the coast-guard arrived very late”, one of the fishermen says.
After the incident, the ferry continued its trip to Vlore, with minimal damage from the crash. The passengers tell about the scary minutes.
“The ferry didn’t stop after the crash. I reported it to the captain. Those people stayed for two hours in water”, one passenger says.
The coast-guard is investigating the accident. They suspect that the fishing vessel has made a wrong turn by entering the course of the Brindisi-Vlore ferry.
