The situation remains tense after what happened in Belgrade. The
Serbians have left everything in the hands of politics, and they even
dare to think about three points in their favor, even after the Albanian
team and the entire Albanian delegation was offended with racist slurs
by the entire stadium, was hit and hurt.
The President of the Albanian Football Federation, Armando Duka, one of the persons who decided to interrupt the match, tells about his experience.
“Everything happened in that field. We were hit by solid objects and our team was offended in chorus. I don’t think there is something more hateful than chants ‘kill all Albanians’, which was heard not only inside the stadium, but also on the way from the airport. Even the band played a song that made war appeals. I feel sorry for the Serbian counterparts, because I have good relations with them and the President of the Serbian Federation helped us”, Duka declared.
The main accusation made by the Serbian side later was for abandoning the game, but Duka says that returning to the field could result fatal.
“We saw how our players were hit with solid objects during the game. They were under an extreme psychological pressure. I stopped thinking about the points, but I was only thinking if they would come out alive from the stadium. They can judge if there were any condition for playing a normal game. The players and even the judge were not in an equal physical and mental condition. Those chants that we heard in the stadium of Belgrade are said only in Serbian political meetings. It is sad that football was stained like this”, Duka declared.
Duka says that when the match was interrupted, he contacted with the central offices of UEFA and the advisers of President Platini.
