Farmers in the villages of Roskovec are abandoning their tomato greenhouses. They say they have no more profits and thus are forced to emigrate.
There are over 500 farmers, who in recent years have invested in setting up vegetable greenhouses, but every season they face the lack sales market and subsidies from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Farmers tell that they used to work as migrants in greenhouses, and then invested the profits of their work in Albania, but they say that the disappointment is forcing them to return to emigration.
This year-end is causing more losses than the year of the pandemic. Farmers in these areas have also protested by blocking national roads, but the new year has found them again in crisis and with the produce dumped in canals.
