The Albanian Customs has seized and eliminated 4000 falsified goods, while some other cases are undergoing trials.
276 brands and 10 protected industrial designs have gone through a tougher customs control, for the protection of the intellectual rights.
“4425 shoes, t-shirts and batteries have been destroyed. Most of the cases have gone to court. The Court of Tirana has ruled in favor of the customs for the falsification of the “Brown” brand, which was caught in the Tirana customs. We have made a criminal report for 12,000 stickers that were coming into the domestic market”, declared Elisa Spiropali, General Director of Customs.
The representative of the twinning project with the European Union, Andrea Lombardi, emphasized the need of cooperation between copyright owners and the state. He added that the online sales might deceive consumers and even put their health at risk.
It is unbelievable that 50% of the products sold on the web are false, and 10% of them are pharmaceutical. Can you believe what consequences could that bring to the citizens’ health”, declared Andrea Lombardi, representative of the twinning project with the European Union.
