The weak performance for collecting taxes might increase the financial
destabilization of the country for the next six months, according to
Olti Rrumbullaku, public finance expert.

Revenues during the first half of the year were 13.4 billion ALL lower than the plan, almost the same level of the past year. For Artan Hoxha, the causes are the fiscal policy of the government, with higher taxes, and the failed revival of the tax administration.

A failure is also seen with the excise, which has been imposed on alcohol, fuels and cigarettes.

“The government must reflect and review the tax policy, which has been postponed despite ther equest of the IMF. They must review the tax discipline and admit that it has pushed for tax evasion”, Hoxha declared.

Albania is negotiating with the IMF to reduce the public debt based on a program. The public investments have been the lowest since 2008.

The Albanian Prime Minister announced a few days ago a fight against tax evasion.
