The beach, although it is a good choice to cope with the high temperatures of July, also requires extra care fopr their health on the part of the citizens.

A day ago, a 66-year-old man from Elbasan lost his life on the beach of Golem in central Albania, as soon as he came into contact with the water. Doctors suspect that he suffered a cardiac arrest.

Entering the water quickly, especially after a long stay in the sun, is not recommended, as it causes health complications. This applies to all ages, especially to the elderly.

“I would suggest that we try to stay in the shade and bathe in the sea every 10-20 minutes. We have to be careful as the temperatures are two extremes, from the heat of the sun to the cold of the water. We have to start getting wet slowly, wetting the body, chest, cervical and lower back, and gradually enter the water by swimming and being active”, says swimming coach, Eduart Cane.

Hydration is important during this hot period, so it is recommended to consume as much liquid as possible but also to avoid the peak hours of heat.

“Avoid the times when the sun is at its peak, i.e. from 12 o’clock to 4 or 5. We should not stay in the water too much, 10-15 minutes is enough, stay in the shade and stay hydrated”, adds Cane.
