One of the worst football fixing stories in Albania, which suspended the
Champion team for one year from international activities, keeps
dominating the public opinion.
Partizani, the vice champion team, have requested not only the money given by UEFA for the champion team, but they also want the title. However, the President of the Albanian Football Federation closed this debate quickly: “Skenderbeu is still the champion”.
Duka spoke for Top Channel for the first time after the match fixing scandal, and he also mentioned the political intervention in football. He attacked directly maybe the most enthusiast football fan of politics, Erion Brace.
“From the legal point of view, there is nothing we can do more. The highest judging authority of the Albanian Football Federation is the CAS. That commission has the right to suspend a team from the Albanian league, or even unregister them from football. However, that is their decision. Some may have wanted to punish Skenderbeu with a death sentence, CAS has punished it with one year of suspension”, said Armand Duka, President of the AFF.
Duka explains that Partizani’s requests for the title is legally impossible to be fulfilled, since any decision that AFF may take about this, the other party may file a complaint at CAS and CAS would decide again in their favor. “This case does not need anymore discussions”, Armand Duka said.
For the AFF president, football is the best thing or country has. As for the involvement of politicians, Brace said that football is the best thing Albania has: “I feel bad when some clown from politics intervene. A little clown who wants to throw mud on our football”, said Duka, President of the AFF.
