The Authority of the Communist files responded to Top Channel’s inquiry about the individuals who used to collaborate with the communist Secret Service.
294 candidates were verified, five of whom resulted as involved the former communist Secret Service.
“Three persons used to work for the former Secret Service, two as former judges and prosecutors, and one as collaborator”, says the report.
As for Prosecutor Bujar Sheshi, the authority says:
“By request of the Prosecution General, we verified the figure of the candidate for the High Council of the Prosecution. He appears in the documents belonging to the former Secret Service”, the report says.
This information has been requested not only by the newly established judiciary institutions but also by political parties. This inquest resulted in four former collaborators out of 285 that were vetted in total.
The Interior Ministry also wants to uncover the former Secret Service collaborators who may be working for them. Their request resulted in 30 verifications and one former collaborator.
Other collaborators were found at the Science Academy and the Tirana Faculty of Economy. 2 out of 116 resulted collaborators.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has requested the vetting of 234 persons, and seven of them resulted as former collaborators.
The Albanian Secret Service has requested the vetting of 50 of their intelligence staff, and three of them resulted involved.
25 other persons from the local government were vetted and two of them were former collaborators.
Seven verifications were carried out at the National Guard, and one of them resulted as a collaborator.
Another one was found among the candidates for Commissioner at the Ombudsman, and one at the Board of Directors of the Albanian Public Television.
