European right wing, six questions for Fule

07/10/2014 00:00

The enlargement strategy and the respective progress reports for the
Balkan Countries and Turkey will be approved by the College of
Commissioners before noon, this Wednesday, since the Chief of Cabinets
agreed in principle.

The outgoing Commissioner, Stefan Fule, is expected to follow the tradition he established in the past three years, which is to secure the support of the European Parliament for the strategic document. He will publish it at the Euro-Parliamentary Foreign Commission at 12:30, before the public conference of noon.

But this last confrontation might be the most difficult one for the Czech Commissioner. There has been discontent regarding the lack of communication with some MPs who showed interest on the progress reports while they were being drafted. They only received oral explanations about the content of these reports.

The situation between the main political groups is still tense, after some clashes in the respective committees over the new candidates of the commission. The European right wing, based on a document secured by Top Channel, will make six questions about Albania, which will include the concerns raised by the Democratic Party, such as the violent attacks against the opposition by the majority MPs with a criminal past, the government’s failure to implement the Constitutional Court verdicts for the investigative commissions about the tax office server data; the appointing in the public administration of people involved in the organized crime; the capturing of democratic institutions by illegally discharging employees; massive firings at the administration; appointing former convicts in the public administration and the Korce vote purchase scandal.
