The European Parliament discussed the draft-resolution for Albania, persented by Knut Fleckenstein.
The European parliament Members discussed the 45 points of the draft-resolution, the most essential of which are the ones that condition the appointing of a date for our country to start the EU accession negotiations. These conditions are for a concrete implementation of the Justice Reform, and for holding free and fair elections on June 18th.
A quick implementation of the vetting law remains a key word for the judiciary reform, which will vet all Albanian judges and prosecutors.
The European institutions say the decriminalization law should be fully implemented, in order to remove any possible political candidate who may have been convicted in the past for a crime. They also underline transparency and audit for funding of political parties.
The European Parliament says that all political parties have the responsibility to hold democratic elections on June 18th. They encourage Albanian authorities to take measures and make it easier for emigrants to vote from wherever they live.
The European institutions value the latest police operations against the drug traffic, but they note that the police and prosecution have failed to identify the groups who hide behind the drug plantations.
