The European Parliament approved a resolution for Albania and Macedonia today.
412 MPs out of 578 that were present in the room voted in favor of the resolution, asking the opening of the EU accession negotiations for Albania and Northern Macedonia.
The resolution underlines that Albania and Northern Macedonia should continue with the reforms.
The European Parliament appeals to the European Council to stop the slowdown of the negotiation perspective and look for a new partnership with these countries.
The Commission is also recommended to monitor the usage of funds in Northern Macedonia and obtain a detailed report in the Parliament.
The President is instructed to take this report to the Commission, the Council, the Parliaments and governments of Albania and Northern Macedonia.
During her speech, the Finnish Minister for European Matters, Tytti Tuppuraine expressed her deep disappointment for the decision of the European Commission, but she added that all the efforts will be done for another decision.
