The European MP, Eduard Kukan, said that Albania and Macedonia have now one year to sit in the negotiation table.
It says that both countries deserve a clear message for opening the accession negotiations. He underlines that he will work during this time with partners from both countries.
“I greet the conclusions of the Council of General Matters for freeing the path for the accession negotiations of Albania and Macedonia. I want to congratulate both countries for the progress in the EU integration agenda. They deserve a clear message for starting the accession negotiations. These countries have one year to sit on the negotiation table. This reflects the internal discussion of the Council about the EU enlargement process. I fully support Albania and Macedonia in this process”, Kukan said.
