The European Commission appealed for responsible behavior, especially as
regards the cases related to the rule of law and that are undergoing a
thorough investigation from the Albanian authorities, after the
political developments that took place yesterday in Tirana.
This was declared by the Spokesperson Maja Kocijancic, when asked about the reaction of MP Tom Doshi, after the reactions of the US and EU embassies in Tirana.
“The European Commission is waiting for a thorough investigation from the Albanian authorities. The EU delegation on terrain has reacted, but the position of the EU on the current situation is that we support the steps that need to eb taken for a full implementation of the agreement between the governing parties and the opposition, including the issue of people involved with crimes and who keep public posts. The EU sees the implementation of the law and the rule of law without compromise as the most important priority, including the fight against corruption and the organized crime, which are the key priorities for Albania. We also expect responsible behavior and speeches, especially as regards the rule of law issues from everyone that is part of the public life”, Kocijancic declared.
Commissioner Hahn will meet this Thursday with the Albanian Foreign Ministerm, Ditmir Bushati, who will also discuss about this issue, together with other developments in the region.
