Euroactiv: “Albania, in EU by 2050”

Euractiv, the media outlet specialized on EU politics, writes that some of the aspiring EU countries will not be part of the union before 2050.

A new study of technical and legal aspects that are required for further enlargement of the EU, show that only FYROM may fulfill the criteria by 2023.

Serbia, Montenegro and Turkey will not be able to fulfill them before 2030, Albania and Bosnia Herzegovina not until 2050.

Juncker has categorically excluded a possible expansion of the EU during his mandate, which expires in 2019, and the EU appetite to enlarge is small. The European Court of Audition had even opposed the accession of Romania and Bulgaria, with the argument that they were not ready.
