The EU Ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, reiterated the support of
international partners towards institutions that fight against
corruption and organized crime.
“800 judges and prosecutors will be vetted in the months to come. This is very important for Albanians and beyond. New institutions, especially SPAC (Special Prosecution Against Corruption), will be facing big challenges soon. I want to be clear and lod that the EU will support the police, the Ministry of Interior and the Prosecution in the fight against corruption and organized crime”, Vlahutin declared.
While critics against the judiciary are growing harsher, the President of the Supreme Court asked: “What has remained from justice?”
“Can you call it justice if courts use legal gaps to free criminals sentenced for murders, and leave in prison family members who cannot pay electricity. Can you call it justice when they legalize hundreds of apartments built illegally, but they put in prison a village farmer who built a stable for his cattle on his own land, or a depot for his working tools?”, Zaganjori declared.
Justice Minister Etilda Gjoni said that the fact that many students of the Magistrate School have lacked of integrity after getting in offices, is not positive at all. They also get involved with criminal ties”, the Minister said.
These declarations were released during a ceremony for the 20th anniversary of the Magistrate School.
