The 28 European Ministers passed the 700 million EUR emergency mechanism
in preparation of the EU summit of Head of States. They also discussed
about migration, the internal market and the EU foreign relation.

Same as the last week, Italy insisted for Albania to be part of the Council meeting.

“We insisted to engage in case of crises in the EU border. We are talking about Turkey today, but the same determination and energy is shown for other parts of the foreign border. We have discussed with Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria, because these countries are open and we received support for them. let’s see if there will be a specific reference for the countries, or if there will be the same attention and determination for other aspects regarding the foreign border”, declared Sadro Gozi, General Secretary for European matters in Italy.

“Many things have been said about migration, and more will be said when the 28 leaders will gather later this week in Brussels. One thing is sure. Our joint purpose is to manage the flux if migrants and refugees, in which the key element is destroying the business model of traffickers”, said the Foreign Dutch Minister, Bert Koenders.

Commissioner Avramopulos is expected to visit Tirana this Friday to discuss the migration crisis with the local authorities, as well as the fight against illegal traffic and terrorism.

This visit was mentioned in the meeting held with Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri during the past month. The Commissioner’s agenda was  established only a few days ago, for his trip from Finland to Albania.
