The Spokesperson for the European Commission, Maja Kocijancic, said for
the Albanian Public TV that the Commission supports only political
debates in Parliaments, not the ones outside, which only deteriorate
political climates.

“Further polarization of the political climate would be counterproductive for Albania’s EU ambitions. It is important to have the Parliament operating in such a key moment as the judiciary reform. These amends are essential for guaranteeing Albania’s further EU  path. As you remember, the Commission recommended to start the EU accession negotiations this November, based on specific results from the judiciary reform”, she said.

The Spokesperson also addressed Socialist Movement for Integration concerns regarding the International Monitoring Operation.

“As you know, the establishing of the International Monitoring Board is something that has been discussed in details with the Albanian government. A lot of information has been given about this, according to the respective legislation and the Albanian constitution. The board’s job is to monitor the process. It is clear and transparent”, she said.

Kocijancic did not commented the Democratic Party request for an interim government.
