The European Union has launched an alarm for the pollution level in Kosovo.
The EU Ambassador to Prishtina, Natalya Apostolova, appealed the authorities in Kosovo to urgently change the policies that influence the health and welfare of citizens.
She said that these changes are part of the standards that Kosovo needs to fulfil in their path towards EU integration.
“I want to encourage the authorities in Kosovo to approve the strategy for waters, for climate changes, and increase the efficiency in energy the soonest possible”, she said.
In the report published last month by the European Commission, Kosovo’s environment issue is seen as problematic. The EU remains concerned about the slow progress in its preservation.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, promised that improving the conditions for a cleaner environment will be a priority of his government.
He said that through renewable energy, the country benefits also economically, besides preserving its environment.
