The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Gramoz Ruci, said at the first press conference after the EU Council decision for the negotiations with Albania that he valued it as a decision that gets us closer to the European family.
Ruci said that the European officials valued the judicial reform in Albania, which now must be implemented with a faster pace.
Thanking the EU countries for deciding to open the accession negotiations, Ruci said that the decision is similar to that for Montenegro.
“The negotiations could have been opened today, but we need to behave as a decent negotiating party. In June 2019, there will be a decision for opening the accession negotiations, an achievement that is a merit of everyone”, Ruci underlined.
According to him, the government and opposition are put to a test. The EU Council wants a quick realization of the judiciary reform, the establishing of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption, of the National Bureau of Investigation and an implementation of the OSCE\ODIHR recommendations for the elections.
