After the President of Macedonia, Gjorgje Ivanov, mandated Zoran Zaev to
form the new government, the EU High-Representative of Foreign Affairs,
Federica Mogherini, and the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes
Hahn, reacted in a joint statement.
“We welcome the decision of President Ivanov as a very important step for the new government formation. We hope that this constructive spirit will continue to prevail, so that the country can overcome the political crisis”, Mogherini and Hahn say.
The declaration appeals for a quick formation of the new government.
“We expect a quick creation of the new government, committed to implement all points of the Perzhina agreement, and the urgent priorities for the reforms. We appeal Parliamentary parties to leave divisions behind and work together for a joint reform agenda, which will take the country back to the path of Euro-Atlantic integration. This is what the people of Macedonia want, and this is what they deserve”, both EU leaders said.
